About the Event
Diversity and Inclusion are core values of Chesapeake Mental Health Collaborative. One way we are living out these values this year is by offering a two-part in-house series to discuss race as it relates to our work as mental health professionals. The events will focus on BIPOC (Black, Indigenous People of Color), although we recognize that CMHC serves clients of other races as well. Last year's {ongoing} racial justice movement specifically highlighted race relations between White and BIPOC people in our country, and we are therefore offering a BIPOC-focused discussion.
For part 1 of the series, we have invited Kathy Bruce of Kitchen Table Conversations to facilitate a discussion about our experiences with race - personally, professionally and more broadly as an American society. The discussion will differ from a standard "diversity training." Kathy's approach incorporates current events, historical context, and gentle but direct invitations for honest conversation.
