Stephanie Ford
LCPC
Stephanie recognizes that starting therapy can be intimidating and starts by prioritizing a space that feels safe to be vulnerable and imperfect. As a clinician, she values humility, collaboration, empowerment, empathy, and presence. Stephanie primarily uses ACT to help clients identify and connect to values, release sticky unhelpful thoughts, and take the steps to move towards the person that you want to be. Stephanie often works with anxiety, perfectionism, OCD, and identity development. Stephanie sees adolescents and adults and is an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist.
CLINICAL APPROACH
Stephanie primarily utilizes ACT which focuses on values, cognitive defusion (not believing everything you think), accepting feelings (exploring what happens when we try to avoid feelings like anxiety or sadness), self as context (exploring and releasing old narratives about who we "should" be), present moment connection, and committed action (how to start making changes.) Together this helps to increase psychological flexibility and move closer to the person that you want to be. She also pulls skills from other theories as necessary such as existential theory, DBT, career theory, humanistic, and biopsychology.
