About the Event

Part II covers how medical cannabis can be used to treat mental illness in a clincal therapeutic practice, such as generalized anxiety, PTSD, depression, sleep disorders, and eating disorders. The talk will speak to the most contemporary research on medical cannabis, including types of products offered and proper dosages. The speaker will also discuss substance abuse as it relates to medical cannabis, but also cannabis' usefulness in treating other addictions like alcohol and opioids. 

Brian Sanderoff, PD, is a holistic pharmacist that is a principle (along with his wife, Dr. Carrie Hempel) at Hempel Sanderoff Wellness, a practice dedicated to counseling patients on the therapeutic use of cannabis, herbal supplements and nutraceuticals – as well as conducting medical cannabis certifications for the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission.

Brian is a 1984 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, has taught classes at his Alma Mater and Johns Hopkins University (Odyssey Program), hosted and produced a radio show for more than 20 years, and has owned and operated various wellness centers and holistic pharmacies in the Baltimore community.

For 3 years, Brian served as General Manager and Clinical Director of the Curio Wellness Center and Medical Cannabis Dispensary, in Timonium, MD.  He sees Medical Cannabis as a very powerful tool in the arsenal available to help people find wellness and manage symptoms of a wide variety of chronic illnesses as a complimentary and/or alternative approach to prescription medicines.
