Patricia “Kevin” Odean
M.S., LCPC, NCC
Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Loyola University Maryland. I have worked at community based mental health centers working with people in the areas of grief and loss, addiction, depression, bipolar, anxiety, trauma, relational problems, those transitioning out of the criminal justice system, and others going through various life adjustments
My therapeutic approach is multifaceted but grounded in the principals of psychodynamic, attachment, experiential, existential and humanistic theories. I am in the training process for Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), which incorporates the above theories and emphasizes creating a safe and caring environment for clients, in which a trusting and attuned relationship develops between counselor and counselee. My heart is to create a safe space so clients feel accepted and validated where ever they are on their journey. Paradoxically, it is in this place of acceptance that I have seen clients make the most progress towards change and healing. Self-compassion and mindfulness are interventions used often in my work drawing from Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT) and other mindfulness based cognitive therapies. In working with my clients holistically, I value incorporating mind, body, soul, and lifestyle into treatment. Moreover, I welcome clients who choose to integrate their spirituality or faith in the therapeutic process.
I work with adolescents to elder adults, men and women, and couples.
