Lavina Velasco

M.S., LGPC

Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) trained at Johns Hopkins University, specializing in the treatment of anxiety, depression, and addictions. Prior to counseling, Lavina worked in the fields of community health, international public health, and Integrative Nutrition Health Coaching. Lavina’s bi-cultural background also influences her stance toward the inherent worth and dignity of every person.

considers a client’s unique characteristics, preferences, context, and worldview,

attends to patterns of thought, feeling, behavior, and family system,

tailors treatment to match a client’s unique needs

uses the most effective tools from a variety of approaches while being rooted in a therapeutic theory.



Lavina primarily leans toward a strengths-based and existential/ontological approach integrating mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other complementary methodologies.  She has a special interest in continuing education related to neuropsychology, trauma, resiliency mindsets, and the connection between food and mood. Lavina is passionate about assisting clients to gain insight into their patterns, create new possibilities, and powerfully face anything missing or in the way of fulfilling on their goals.
