Jess Willard Ayer is a Licensed Certified Social Worker, Clinical, (LCSW-C) and Board Approved Clinical Social Work Supervisor. She received her BS in Psychology and Family Studies from Towson University. She earned her Master's of Social Work (MSW) from the University of South Carolina. Jess has worked as a Family Therapist for adolescents struggling with substance abuse, as the Director of Counseling at a liberal arts college, as a Family Therapist for people diagnosed with eating disorders, and as a Clinical Outreach Liaison for an eating disorder facility in Towson, MD.
Jess specializes in working collaboratively with clients on setting and achieving goals, overcoming obstacles, and finding balance. She specializes in working with families, utilizing Family Systems Theory to resolve conflict, improve communication, and strengthen relationships. Jess also enjoys working with adolescents, helping her clients navigate life transitions, social conflict, and peer relationships. Jess has several years of experience working with people diagnosed with eating disorders and specializes in the treatment of Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Binge Eating Disorder. Jess believes in client-directed care, encouraging her clients to be the driver in their own healing journey. Jess utilizes Mindfulness techniques, CBT, DBT, and Family Systems approaches in therapy.
